Time to make a start

Its 5 years now since I ran my last (14th) marathon – and in that time I have gradually deteriorated after years of fitness.

So the successful habit of daily exercise has been replaced by the unsuccessful habit of alcohol, food and a thickening waist.

The “man in black”, wearing t-shirts in the summer and black Hugo Boss shirts in the winter has taken to hiding himself inside his clothes.

When we get in those ‘doldrums” the solution is to create a challenge (remember my comments yesterday about “the quest”), a deadline and an environment of accountability.

So here goes – watch out – I’m on my way back (just as soon as I get back from holiday).

Congratulations!

Your name was drawn last Saturday and you are now running in the Virgin 2011 London Marathon for Bridge2Aid!! The Virgin website will allow me to enter your details in January. I will contact you then and make sure Virgin have all the info they need to activate your place.

In the meantime please can I ask each of you to email me your full name, email, contact telephone number and postal address?

You may have noticed that there are four of you running. In the 2010 marathon one of our runners pulled out the week of the race. We have just had confirmation that the place has ‘rolled-over’ and so 3 runners have become 4, Sally Rayment, Ian Redfearn, Steve Price and Chris Barrow.

Thank you for all making the commitment to raise a minimum of £2000. I am here to help you with this and can help  you tailor a fundraising plan. Could I please ask each of you by starting with a justgiving page? This is a safe, easy method for friends, family and colleagues to sponsor you. www.justgiving.com. Start by filling the My Story section on the page, giving a description of what your’re planning and why you are supporting Bridge2Aid.

So here is your green light to start your training! I will be in contact over the coming months with ideas for fundraising and to make sure you have everything you need.

Looking forward to hearing from you,

And Congratulations!!!
