Your unique ability is the work that you get paid for and, more importantly, the work you love to do, because you are just brilliant when in that zone. For me that’s coaching, speaking, writing and creating content.
For you that might be clinical dentistry or running a business (it’s rarely both).
Anyone who knows me, knows that (like you) I’m only as good as my manager, the amazing Phillippa Goodwin, who is in charge of the “everything else” department of Coach Barrow.
Long ago, I was coached to create a list of my unique abilities and to invest 80% of my working life on those abilities and spend 20% leading the people who do “everything else”.
Phillippa handles the lion’s share of that, with IT support provided by Kim Black and accounting support by Steve Thompson at MTM LLP.
Another little known fact is that all of my support team are freelancers – the only payroll at Coach Barrow is me.
Which brings me to a point.
I was chatting on FaceTime with Phillippa the other day and she mentioned that there is a vacancy in her freelance practice for another client like me and/or for additional support services.
Some of my clients already utilise Phillippa’s services for transcribing patient notes and treatment plans via dictation machine and email (she can help you with that as well).
Maybe you would just like a bit of help with your “stuff” or you are a busy owner who is looking for a superb individual with great attention to detail and the ability to deal with the sometimes complex issues of travel, calendar management, basic invoicing and collections, client communication, paperwork (the dreaded paperwork) – in fact “everything else”!
I’m posting here simply as a favour for a good friend, a brilliant business manager and a loyal supporter for 10 years.
Phillippa is simply ace – and if you would like a clear desk to be able to focus on your own best talents – then contact her for a no obligation chat at email@example.com.

Even if that isn’t a priority for you right now – take the coaching point that there is no need for you to be doing somebody else’s unique ability – focus on your own.
