Up at 5.00am this morning to catch the 7.00am dance that kicks off the Spring Festival in Helston, Cornwall.
A ceremony that dates back to pagan times – nowadays celebrated by the town band playing the famous “Floral Dance” as they march around followed by locals.
Pubs open all day, the streets festooned with lilly of the valley and a welcome for all.
Dances will take place throughout the day – the main event at noon with dancers in top-hat, tails and posh frocks.
This morning is a warm up for the day ahead – but I’ll be in business meetings.
