5 things you probably don’t know about me

In response to Kimberley Black’s challenge (read more):

  1. I trekked to Everest Base Camp in 1998;
  2. I played drums in a Church Lads Brigade band until they asked me to try the bugle (which I mimed for 2 years and never managed a note);
  3. I took my English Language O-level (High School diploma) twice – once for myself and once for my best friend, who couldn’t pass and needed the grades to get the job he wanted;
  4. When I left school my intention was to train as a helicopter pilot with the Royal Navy – I flunked my exams and, after a year of discovering teenage delinquency, never bothered to re-apply;
  5. I managed to tell my father I loved him (for the one and only time) when I was 44 years old and he was 70 – he died of cancer a year later.

Kim – I have no idea how to do that track-backing thingy!
