Press release: Ideal Dental Care

Ideal Dental Care sees future with opticians
Dental franchising entrepreneur Peter Thompson recently celebrated the launch of his first franchise within a high street opticians practice in Dundee, Scotland. The fully branded dental practice has started seeing patients within A.S. Optometrists offering both NHS and private treatments.
The new practice enables owner Ameen Sattar to offer his existing patients a wider range of healthcare treatments under one roof. It also opens up new opportunities to attract patients who are looking for a one-stop shop service. Although A.S. Optometrists has only been established for three years Ameen has ambitious plans to develop his business and he had previously looked at partnering with a dentist as he felt there was a lot of synergy between the two clinical professions.

When Ameen read about Ideal Dental Care in an opticians’ publication he contacted Peter because franchising is already much more prevalent in the optometry sector and so he understood at once how he could introduce a dental practice into his business. And the key difference between franchising and the other ways of incorporating a dental practice within his optician business is that Ameen owns the licence to operate the franchise. Ameen said he was surprised that franchising wasn’t more prevalent in the dental industry because it was one of the mainstays of optometry. He cites the success of the Specsavers franchise model which not only created a national brand with the memorable “you should have gone to Specsavers” adverts but it revolutionised the way opticians operate on the high street.
