Leadership example 3: DBC Clients, Tooth +

Rachael Blyth from Tooth + is a DBC Mastermind client. The Tooth + 2010 Private Dentistry Award nominations are for: Most Attractive Practice and Best New Practice.

The team recently answered some questions about their nominations, and this is what they said.

What does it mean to you and your team to be on the nomination list?

We are all absolutely delighted to have been nominated for the Private Dentistry Awards. Having only been open since January 2010 it is wonderful to have all our efforts noticed. We are very proud of the practice and feel it is a wonderful environment to be in. It is quite astounding to look back now at all we have achieved in such a short time, and the Award nominations are a very important part of that.

What particular achievement in your team/practice/business this year are you most proud of?

Of all the achievements this year, just being here is the greatest achievement! We have flourished in the recession and a remarkable number of patients have come through the doors. Interesting marketing strategies have kept the new patient enquiries extremely high and we are still seeing over 60 new patients every month. It has been a steep learning curve, but we are helped by the confidence in a solid business plan and a great team who have pulled together through the difficult times. Starting as a squat with no patients, committed only to private dentistry, has been a bold move, but is gratifying to see our customers being happy with the service we offer, and recommending their friends and families.

What have been the best tools, advice or ideas for your practice that you’ve gained from your time spent with the Dental Business Club?

It is difficult to put into such a short paragraph exactly what we have gained from the Dental Business Club, but without a doubt it has been a key element in the success of the project. Development and management of the practice on a day to day and year to year basis has been overseen by Chris and his bird’s eye view, have helped put things into perspective. His advice has been important at all stages of the practice’s growth and development and I have relied heavily on his experience and no-nonsense approach. The investment has paid off many many times!
