Spreadsheets (rather like bikes) will suffer wear and tear over time and, unless you are fastidious about cleaning them up and servicing them from time to time, problems will happen.
Back in February, one of my “spreadsheets of the week” was the Associate Profitability Calculator that I have used for over 10 years to argue the case for win:win solutions in remuneration for associates and profits for owners.
I’m indebted to Stephen Murray from Swords Orthodontics in Ireland for a detailed and lengthy exchange of emails, demonstrating that the attachment to my February post contained a couple of glitches that could lead the unwary to a false conclusion.
The differences were pence not pounds but Stephen’s eagle eye and my subsequent investigation revealed that the glitches were real and the spreadsheet itself required a service and repair.
